Leveling the Playing Field in D3 Recruiting
A candid update on the launch of the D3 Recruiting Playbook
Last week, we officially launched the D3 Recruiting Playbook - our self-paced, step-by-step guide designed to demystify the NCAA Division III recruiting process for families.
I want to be transparent about how it is going:
Our presale resulted in only three signups.
That tells me two things:
Families and recruits do want to lead their own processes
We need help getting this resource in front of the right people
That’s where you can give us an assist.
D3 college sports recruiting can be opaque, decentralized, and often misunderstood.
Families routinely overspend, under-communicate with coaches, or miss opportunities simply because they don’t know how the process actually works.
The D3 Recruiting Playbook packages lessons from my student-athlete career at Swarthmore, five years of the D3Direct team’s hands-on experience, D3 coach insights, and proven frameworks into a clear, actionable system families can follow at their own pace.
Here’s a screenshot of the first few lessons in the dashboard.

If you believe in leveling the playing field for prospective college athletes, I’m asking for your help.
If you know:
A high school or club coach
A travel team director
A family with a student-athlete currently in the recruiting process
I would be grateful if you shared D3Direct or connected us directly.
As with everything we do, this is a community-supported effort built to create real outcomes for student-athletes.
Thank you to everyone who has supported, shared, or encouraged our work so far.
Best,
Karl Barkley
